Hello Folks,
I am trying to figure out how to install my Mr.Gasket carb heat shield (part # 3710) on my 467. I have a Edel perf RPM intake(part # EDL 7161) and a Holley 750 double pumper #4779c.
The kit includes the heat shield and 2 alum spacers, and 3 gaskets. Is the correct install sequence this???
Manifold-gasket-alum spacer-gasket-alum spacer-gasket
For the best heat shielding performance should I use all the gaskets and spacers or should I only use the shield and the gasket?
Thanks,
Kris

In response to
I've tried various combinations.
The current one I use is manifold-gasket-spacer-gasket-shield-gasket-carb.
It works for me.

Kris, be very careful when you tighten the bolts down. It's
easy to crack the baseplate on the carb. Happened to me once so just thought I'd pass it on.

Thanks Bob,
I ordered 2' carb studs so on won't need to push down on the carb too much. I wonder what the torque specs would be on the bolts?

I was just reading the newest Chevy High Performance and there was an article on upgrading a 750 DP. They mentioned about cracking that pot metal baseplate and how you can put on a billet baseplated. I will be careful because billet normally equals bucks.

70MontyCarlo, with a new gasket, I just tighten the carb a little past finger tight. After the engine has heated up and cooled a few times, give the nuts a little more because the gasket will compress slightly. Then just snug them up a little so the nuts won't loosen up. I forgot to tighten the carb nuts once, and it started up just fine. You can always tighten them up if needed, but a warped base plate will give you head aches.
If the carb base and the manifold are flat, all you need to do is keep the carb from moving around.
Snug them up, just do it with a light wrist. I use a nut driver, not a ratchet.
